# Terms of Service — Plated

**Last updated:** 2026-07-29

*This is a starting draft, not legal advice. Have a lawyer review it —
especially the age-requirement section below — before you let strangers
sign up.*

## 1. What Plated is

Plated is a personal nutrition and supplement tracking tool. It uses an AI
model to estimate the macronutrient content of foods you describe or
photograph, and to answer questions about your own logged history. Plated
is **not** a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and is not a
substitute for guidance from a doctor, registered dietitian, or other
qualified professional.

## 2. Who can use Plated

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under
18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission to use Plated,
particularly before acting on anything in the Supplements guide. Plated is
not directed at children under 13, and accounts found to belong to users
under 13 will be removed.

## 3. Your account

You're responsible for the accuracy of what you log and for keeping your
password confidential. You can delete your account at any time from the
Profile tab; doing so permanently removes your data (see the Privacy
Policy for exactly what that includes).

## 4. AI-generated estimates

Macro estimates from a text description or photo, and answers from Ask
Your Data, are AI-generated approximations. They can be wrong — meaningfully
wrong, especially for photos with unclear portions or unusual foods. Don't
rely on them for a medical condition (e.g. diabetes carb-counting) without
independent verification.

## 5. Supplements content

The Supplements & Vitamins guide is educational information, not a
recommendation to take any particular supplement. It intentionally
presents both benefits and drawbacks, including cautions for some
categories. Starting, stopping, or changing any supplement is a decision
between you and a healthcare provider.

## 6. Acceptable use

Don't use Plated to log or share content that is illegal, abusive, or
infringes someone else's rights. Don't attempt to access another user's
account or data — every account's data is private by design (see Privacy
Policy), and attempting to bypass that is a violation of these Terms.

## 7. Subscriptions (if/when introduced)

If Plated introduces a paid tier, its terms (pricing, billing cycle,
cancellation) will be presented at the point of purchase and will
supplement, not replace, this document.

## 8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Plated is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum
extent permitted by law, Plated's operator is not liable for any damages
arising from your use of the app, including decisions made based on
AI-generated estimates or the Supplements guide.

## 9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the app changes. Material changes will be
noted with an updated "Last updated" date above.

## 10. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be directed to the app operator's contact
address (add one here before publishing).
